I hope everybody's new year is off to a good start. A communique from the Commander, Starfleet for widest distribution:

Fellow Members of STARFLEET,

It has been my privilege to serve this past year as your Commander, STARFLEET. However, due to health concerns that have manifested themselves this past year, I am afraid that I will not be able to continue as such; to do so would be unfair to myself and the organization.

Therefore, effective at 12:01am Central Time on 1 January 2018, I will be resigning as Commander, STARFLEET. I am sorry that I will not be able to cross the finish line with the rest of my team and help improve the organization for its members.

I wish you all a happy and safe new years and ask that you give Dan your support as he picks up the reins.
